Giving through a child's eyes
Even the youngest child can make a difference in their community. Children from first through sixth grade from Highland Park UMC, First Presbyterian and Central UMC children's mission camp visited our office and brought books, food, clothing and toys. They sorted hundreds of books by age category and filled the shelves in the children's book room and our pantry. When families come for assistance, each child accompanying their parent is permitted to take two books home with them. Often the books they receive from us are the only ones the child will have.
We are grateful for the gift of reading from children in our
community to those children who may not have books of their own. As your child outgrows their books, please consider recycling them by bringing them to Lighthouse Ministries to be given to a child whose parents cannot afford to buy them.
