Working Mother’s Education and Support Program

I wish the program could last longer than six months, not for the wonderful items we receive, but for the parenting class and the help with other parental needs”, said a participant. As the other mothers nodded in agreement, another group of mothers graduated from our Working Mother’s Education and Support Program.
Facilitated by Elizabeth Poston, a licensed Social Worker, the participants receive practical help in the form of seven weekly classes on parenting and life skills, community resource referrals, and individualized money management assistance. The program, which is designed to prevent child abuse and neglect, inspired one mother to say, “It helped me to be a better parent. I know how to handle problems differently”. In addition to the informative classes, the mothers become a support system for one another that continues after the classes end.
