A Donation of Time
“I volunteer because I can’t sing and I can’t preach, so God made it possible for me to help needy people. This is my gift” said James one of Lighthouse Ministries long-time Participant Advocates. We refer to our volunteers as Participant Advocates because they are truly advocates for those assisted at the ministry.
Lighthouse Ministries is comprised of people from many congregations all working together to be “a source of light in times of darkness” to our neighbors.
Our Participant Advocates are an important part of the Ministry. While we are supported financially by donations from numerous sources for which we are grateful, donations of time are vital to the Ministry. Participant Advocates range in age from 14 to over 80 years old, all making valuable contributions in different ways, such as interacting with those seeking assistance, helping in the office, pantry, with mailings and special projects or picking up furniture donations.
By donating time as a Lighthouse Ministries volunteer, you will learn firsthand why our volunteers say, “I get more than the participants that come for assistance”.
