“Thank you for caring”, Ms. J.
Ms. J. came to us a few months after the death of her mother. They had been close and had lived together since Ms. J. relocated to Florence after her divorce several years before. While still grieving for her mother, she was also dealing with the loss of income. With her disability check and her mother’s social security, they were just getting by. We were able to help with her immediate need of paying her electric bill but also to help her find other ways to stretch her resources. She had been told by others to just “get over it” when she spoke of the loss of her mother. But our Participant Advocate took the time to listen to her grief and she left our office with new hope knowing that others do care.
