Working Mothers' Diaper Program

diaper program“I loved the classes. I feel as if this class has changed my life and now I have someone to ask if I have questions”, said a mother of two young children.

A grandmother raising her grandchild said, “Even though I raised my children, times have changed. I was a young mother. This program has given me confidence to raise this child right. I wish I had this with my children”.

The Working Mothers’ Diaper Program is permanently changing the lives of low-income working mothers. The mothers attend eight weekly classes covering topics on early childhood development, and life skills facilitated by Elizabeth Poston, Licensed Master of Social Work and a mother herself. In addition, they receive monthly budget counseling and diaper kits for six months at no charge.

Mothers in the program state that this is a life changing program. Eighty three mothers have graduated from the Working Mothers’ Diaper Program and thirteen are currently taking classes These mothers are hard workers who celebrate with pride the receiving of their diplomas. Many of them juggle work, school, child care and home as a single parent, yet take time to improve the life of their children and themselves.
